Sloth on a Shelf – Day 11

sergiostockingThis morning I awoke to find the happiest sloth-elf ever. He scampered across the bed waving a book in his hand, shouting that he had found the answer. By this point I know better than to ask, The answer to what? because he has been a sloth obsessed with reaching Santa Claus. So I simply smiled and asked what he had found.

He was so excited his arms trembled as he thrust the book in front of my nose. His voice even squeaked as he told me, A guide to how to talk to Saint Nick! And sure enough when I looked at the book, it was A Visit From St. Nicholas by Clement Clarke Moore.

Sergio scrambled off the bed, and slid down the banister (I heard him yelling, Wheeeeeee!!), so I figured I should probably get up and see what my sloth friend was up to. I had to bite my lip when I reached the bottom of the stairs because Sergio had pinned up some stockings to the shelves of the open hutch and hopped into Luna’s stocking. He looked absolutely adorable poking out the top.

Me: Are you planning to be a Christmas gift for Luna?
Sergio: Nope. Since Santa fills the stockings, he’ll have to talk to me then.

And now in honor of Clement C. Moore, a snippet of the revised Visit from St. Nick

‘Twas weeks before Christmas, when all through the house
The critters were chatting, even Ella, the mouse
The stockings were hung by the sloth with such care,
And the monkey proclaimed St. Nick would be there.

From the team with Timmy and the Golden Lion Tamarin and The Adventures of Sergio and Luna a blessed holiday season.
